Do you think I can be in a size 2 by Sunday?

Remember a little while back, I told you how I was going to make sure that I made some time for my husband and me? Well, we are leaving this Sunday for vacation, for an entire week…without kids! Naturally I will miss them like crazy but we need to spend a little time recharging. Mike has been working between 60-70 hours a week, most days 11+ hours, and even working many Sundays since November.

TheHoffClearly I am joking about being in a size two before Sunday. Maybe a four? In all seriousness I am just thrilled that I am bringing clothes with me that I have been unable to wear for years! Even though I am still not even near my goal weight, I will wear clothes more confidently in Cuba and feel great while I am there. While the German guests in Speedos may not appreciate my physique, I know how hard I am working so that’s all that matters!

While we were searching for resorts I had specific criteria.

  1. It had to be cheap. We needed to be able to go for less than $1000 each. This was a last minute getaway so we haven’t been planning ahead like we have done in the past.
  2. We had to see some good reviews. Let’s face it, people are assholes and will nitpick about anything and everything. We usually make sure to focus on the good and see how consistent the same bad complaints about a resort are. We are not high maintenance people so we are most concerned about cleanliness and a variety of food.
  3. There had to be a gym. I needed to find a hotel that didn’t just have one treadmill and a couple free weights in a small room labelled fitness center. This was important to me. I need to be able to stay focused with the exercise routine I have developed and maintained for the last 4 months.

Truthfully we thought that the chances of cheap with good reviews were impossible but we were so wrong! The best part is this trip and my plan to keep up the momentum is that there are bonuses to go along with it.

  1. The hotel is brand new. Just over a year old. The fitness center pictures look to be fantastic! I have talked to Danielle and she is going to make me a killer workout program for while I am there.
  2. They have a juice and smoothie bar! I am so excited about this. I can keep up juicing while I am there, as well as have some smoothies with fresh fruits and vegetables. I am going to pack a bag of Vega protein powder to bring with me. The plan is to stop on my way to work out each morning and get a protein shake. Then, Mike and I can head over for breakfast. Having this shake beforehand will help me to make wise choices at the breakfast buffet. I will avoid meats like sausage and bacon as well as fried potatoes. I will have a veggie omelette (with less egg than veggies as I dislike eggs). Mike and I can still enjoy this meal together without me feeling like I have a brick in my stomach all morning.

I am also going to be realistic. There are alcoholic beverages to be had, many with sugar. I am sure there will be unhealthy food choices. I will do my best to limit the ‘treats’ to dinner time, as opposed to making it an all-day thing. I don’t want to come back and feel like crap. I have worked SO hard. To spend a week completely blowing it would be ridiculous! Tomorrow night, (Thursday February 28th) I will be attending my 100th Adrenaline class, in just over 4 months!! (You should come, we are going to have a party, with balloons and streamers and stuff 😀 )

100th Class

When I return I have huge plans! I am challenging myself to yet again kick some ass and take some names. I am going to prove that gimmicks aren’t needed for weight loss. I am going to push myself just as hard as I did during the Fit Life Challenge, and then some!! You will be able to watch it all unfold here, as well as on my own personal blog!!

Until then, if you’re looking for me, this is where I’ll be. Don’t miss me too much! 😉
