Unite Our Strenghts | Training Ideas for your Clients

Group training is a riot and if you are organized and have it all planed out almost like a little event, it will run smoothly and then you can be very successful at it.  You can’t just walk into a gym with 59 people and think you can just wing it and make it up as you go.  It will never work, well not in a small space that is.  You have to know how your going to move your people, so it flows and there’s no dead time.  Your clients want results… you can’t get that if there’s to much rest time and waiting on others before they can take there turn.  (ex: standing in a line to do a drill)

They are investing in YOU.  They are paying you to kick their ass’, not sure what job is better then this..haha but if the session isn’t efficient and they don’t feel they were worked to their limits then your business will never grow.  You truly can take a large group of people and give all of them amazing results,  have them hitting all their goals and then setting new ones.   It just takes practice and as your classes grow and you get more people out to your Boot camp you will get better and better at it.  You have to cause you wont have an option.  Now if your outside then ok, you have all the space in the world, but if you live in Canada like I do, theres a few months out of the year were you have to have a place to cram all your members into.  So plan ahead and book the appropriate gym space you think you will need.

‘MUST haves’ when renting a space:

  • LOCATION – this is huge, and most important for many reasons but one being no one wants to drive too far, you need common area.
  • PARKING
  • EQUIPMENT – Do they have weights/balls/mats that you can use or rent? Get an inventory so you know what you can work with.
  • A SOUND SYSTEM / IPOD DOC / HEADSET
  • APPEALING – is it a place where people will have a good vibe?
  • CHANGE ROOMS/SHOWERS
  • AVAILABILITY – Can they accommodate you on the days you need,  Extra rooms for you incase they need big gym for their yearly events?
  • INSURANCE
  • DO THEY BELIEVE IN WHAT YOU DO? –  if your training somewhere where they don’t support you it will never work.
The list can go on here.. so write down all your who, what, where, when and when’s and think of every possible angle.  Then make sure if you find the perfect space you lock it down.. for years haha so you don’t lose that space. Let the gym or centre know how serious you are, fill out a contract.

I will tell you there is something powerful about a big group of people all kicking ass together, motivating one another, competing to be ahead.. it’s a vibe you will never have in just one on one training.   It’s empowering to you and your clients,  their energy feeds off one another which creates this uplifting vibe that they will crave and you will feel at your best.  So your training will be at it’s best too, nothings worse then training a client who doesn’t want to be there, or complains the whole hour about their life.  How are you suppose to get motivated with that?  We are not social workers, so don’t get in the habit of letting them feel comfortable chatting away the whole session. Kick their ASS trust me they will walk away feeling a billion times better and then thankful in the end cause they hit their goals fast.

Another plus about group training, they cant chat away with you SO YOU CAN JUST KICK IT HARD.. everyone is there to work it and that is what they will do.  If you see members chatting it up amongst themselves..well, nip that in the butt every time.  Trust me, you will lose some clients if who may be bothered by poeple chatting around them.  Get every sinlge person in the zone and keep them there.. if someone talks make them and everyone else do more. If someone quits make them and everyone else do more.  PUSH…. PUSH.. PUSH!!!

Here’s a video for you with some great training ideas and tips to make it flow, oh and if you can get your hands on a stairwell start TODAY… the results are insane.
