Digital Detox | When is it too much? | 90’s here I come!!
“Danielle, We need a Digital Detox!!”
That’s what CK said to me 4 days ago.. then I said what’s that? He said “NO computers, cell phone’s, TV …. nothing with social media, texting, etc. Anything digital you will detox from it. Shut it all off and leave it for a few days.” I looked at him with uncertainty.. thinking to myself ‘could I actually do that?’ Could I step away from my emails, Facebook, MY WEBSITE, blogging, videos, pictures, analytics, blogging….lol I love blogging!!!
At first I felt scared about this, shit when I forget my phone at home when I leave for an hour I feel naked and anxious!!
Then when I really thought about it, it intrigued me. Why the heck should our lives revolve around these phones, facebook, emails and analytics. It’s crazy. I have in the past months become obsessed with the analytics of AXFIT.COM. I love watching who’s on the site, what cities, countries, how many at one time. If I Pin an article how many hits will it get and so on. Then there’s facebook.. wow this is a whole post in it’s own and we all know what we could say about it so I won’t even go there.
So after pondering in my head about this Digital Detox the more I was drawn to do it. I have been exhausted lately with it all, I find that I sit down at the computer and feels like minutes later I look up and it’s already been 3 hours. I can just imagine the Electronic waves around us all on a day to day basis, it’s scary actually to think about it but yet we can’t stop. Could this be effecting our health? Our phones are glued to us constantly, on our night stands while we sleep, I even have friends that sleep with it under their pillows.
Have you ever just sat in a resturant and looked around? EVERYONE is either on their phone, checking their phone or thinking about their phone and if they have a text and if they should check it or would that be rude. The waitress’ are sneaking a text in behind the ketchup bottles, then that chef in the back..well his phone is all greasy. Everywhere you go everyone is on their phones, even in the workplace.
Remember in the 90’s when the most you had was a pager. Haha we wore it on our belts… that was the beginning, now today texting is the top communication source. Some people will be in the same room and still text each other. It’s almost weird to call someone now a days. We will text each other first saying ” is it ok if I call you right now”? What?? what’s next.. what will the world be in 3-5…10-20 years from now? Will we be in cars that drive themselves so we can finally text and drive safely. This is a HUGE issue in our society right now. TEXTING & DRIVING!!! IT has to stop. It’s a horrible habit and what is really that important that you have to risk your life and the people around you’s life? I’ve been guilty of this and I won’t do it again, especially after watching this video a few days ago.

That’s IT!!! Im doing this and Im starting today!! Today at noon I will shut down my computer, ipad, take the batteries out of my remote control, unplug my microphone, put the cameras aways and TURN OFF MY PHONE! Im excited but feeling a bit edgy just thinking about it. However I’m ready for the challenge and I truly, honestly know my body needs a break and my brain too, I will enjoy the little things and maybe even pick up a book!
Try googling Digital Detox I was surprised to see all the places doing it, they even have Digital Detox Getaways!!!
I have pre wrote a post and set it on auto to be published Sunday Night at 6pm for our next #FITWEEK Challenge and that’s all you will hear from me. I will not answer a text, facebook or email until after Tuesday at noon. So if you need me… I’m sorry but I won’t be there.
CK has inspired me to go on a Digital Detox and I’m doing it… “Back to the Past”.. I might even pull out some of my baggy skater jeans I wore in the 90’s too, wish me luck! haha
Oh and I found this video last night about Electromagnetic waves and our health and what this old lady feels about it. Makes you think a bit!!
