Apple Cinnamon Steel Cut Oats Breakfast
Like every one these days I am constantly on the look out for healthy recipes that are fast and easy, but most importantly taste yummy.
I have been hearing about steel cut oats for some time now and how delicious they are from Danielle. I’ve seen them several times at the bulk food store, but until now I have never known how to make them. That is until I found this lovely gem of a recipe on PINTEREST
This was not only super easy to make, because its done in your crock pot, but it makes enough breakfast for the week. It is super filling, and keeps me full for hours.
Recipe
1 cup steel cut oats
1 cup apple juice
3 cups water
3 apples ( I used gala) cubed
1 tsp cinnamon (or to taste)
Place all ingredients in crock pot and cook on high for 2-3hours or until the oats reach a consistency you like.
Be sure to stir the oats often to make sure they don’t stick
Keeps in the fridge for a week. Makes aprox 6 1cup servings.
I sometimes sprinkle some brown sugar on top to satisfy my sweet tooth, but its not necessary. The cinnamon gives this recipe great flavor – it tastes like delicious apple crisp for breakfast!!
