Take your “Snack break” like others take their “Smoke break”!!!
If you are working an 8 -12 hour shift without fueling your body.. you need to break this habit real fast. Smokers find the time to stop and poison their bodies… so why can’t you find time to stop and replenish yours? It’s so important to eat throughout the day and if your brain just has a hard time reminding you to eat because it’s so use to not eating then you need to make yourself some reminders. An alarm on your phone.. a sticky note on your computer ,. whatever you can. It sounds silly but I have a ton of clients that say “I just forgot to eat”,…or “my day flew by at work and I had no time!!”. I hear this more often then not and its time to change this bad habit. WE all have goals and dreams of what we want from our bodies and the way we want to look or feel or do, you can’t make this happen if you don’t eat enough. Most clients that i have that can’t lose weight or the reason they have gained weight is because they DON’T EAT ENOUGH!!!
So as you can see here in the picture this is a typical snack I will have in a day.. between lunch and dinner I grab a plate and put a small pile of a few different options to pick at while I’m typing or writing. You can do the same too.. if you pack it for work or have it while you are at home. Healthy snacks are easy to prep and will give your body the energy it needs. A great practice is even pre packaging little zip-lock baggies on sunday night for the next 2-3 days then its easy to grab…. no excuses its ready and there. Have it in your car while you drive.. or in your pocket at work to pick at when you can, there’s no excuse no matter what your job is. I mean unless your in brain surgery for 10 hours a day then ok your screwed but thats not the case for most of us. Leave your snacks wherever you can that will make it possible to pick at it.
Here’s some ideas of things you can grab quick:
- Piece of fruit
- Cut up veggies
- Boiled egg
- piece of cheese
- Salad fruit/veg
- Healthy fruit or protein bar
- Apples and peanut butter
I could go on and on here but we all know how and what is healthy to eat.. so just do it.. and do it in moderation.. yea you don’t want to eat 3 boiled eggs and a bunch of cheese and almonds all day but having 1 egg and a slice of cheese and some fruit is a great snack. So let’s go and get excited about it!!
