SUP Race Training – Dry Land Workout

So at Adrenaline Urban Surf  we have been doing some training with Jake Clement, aside from his own training, the crazy long paddles he does almost daily and then all the technical practice he does on his own we are kicking his butt on land 2-3 times a week too.  This 19 year old has more determination then most and has big goals set for 2014.  We are excited to see him grow and become a head honcho in the SUP Race industry.  He will have big companies wanting to sponsor him in no time.

Here’s some sets we got on video last week in one of our training sessions.  We are only 2 weeks into his training so it will be interesting to watch him get faster and stronger off and on the SUP Board.

Most back yard workouts are my favourite workouts.  Using tires and sandbags, slacklines and just your own body weight change things up from the regular weights at the gym.  When your training for sport its key to cross train your mind and body as much as possible. Keep things fresh and target even those little tiny muscles that are hard to hit with only weights and machines.   Even organizing some pick-up road hockey, soccer, volleyball, etc  is not only super fun but it will get you working those ‘stop/start’ drills without even realizing it.

Think outside the box, get excited about your training and set some new goals!
