Make it Count | Training Tips for Personal Trainers

It’s so important to always be prepared for your clients, if it be 1 person your training or 80.

When your clients show up they want to start on time, especially when you have big groups, the chatter can get out of control very fast and before you know it, it’s 10 minutes after your suppose to start and now they aren’t getting their full hours worth.  Get their early and set up the room, have the weights ready the routine written, nothings worse then you feeling like  chicken with your head cutt off in the middle of their time.  Every minute cost them while they are with you, so make it count!

With one on one training it is very easy to get chatting throughout the session with your clients, catching up on what has gone on in both your lives, gym gossip, etc.  I was guilty of this when I first became a trainer…but this has to STOP!!! If you want results with your clients it can’t be 50% workout 50% socializing.  They will not get anywhere, never reaching their goals, their money will be wasted and trust me people in the gym will notice that your clients bodies never seem to change .  This doesn’t look good as much fun as you might be having or the great relationship your building..just save it!! Save it for another time. The trick is to plan a 15-20 min time slot in between your clients so you can have 10 minutes to chat with your client before or after their session and 5 mins for you to get prepared for your next client.

Having that 10 minutes with them is all you need, you can even set the timer so you stay on track.  Get the gossip out of the way, go over what your going to do with them that session and how they have been eating, sleeping, etc.  Then give’r , push out as much as you can with that hour, make them sweat , bleed and cry if you can. haha The hour will fly by they will feel absolutely amazing and everyone will want to be your client.  You will be the buzz at your gym and that is the best feeling!!

As a trainer your always being watched at the gym, could be by potential clients or people that might just want to learn a thing or too. So Motivate them, inspire everyone around you, get creative, keep things fresh and NEVER stand around chatting away like its a therapy session.

Take it out on the weights and kick their ass into gear!
